is a game you can play
almost anywhere in the
world, at any age, at your
own skill level, with
friends and family and even
by yourself. You can play
for just for fun and
exercise, or for
competition. |

In Port Townsend, the YMCA
After-School Tennis program
for grades K-12 is growing
step by step and giving
children racket and ball
handling, sportsmanship and
competition skills they can
use for life. |

The United States Tennis
Association/Pacific
Northwest section awarded
two grants during the year
to the Jefferson County
Family YMCA totaling $1,700
for Fall and Spring
after-school tennis sessions
for grade K-12. A
fundraiser and local
donations also
contributed to make possible
the YMCA's fastest growing
program. Over 53 students,
mostly grades K-5
participated in tennis
classes this spring. |
