T-Ball for Ages 3-6
T-Ball Program
- Volunteer coaches will
conduct recreational team
T-ball for boys & girls ages
3 through 6 at Grant Street
Play Field on Wednesdays
from 4:00-5:00 pm for five
weeks starting April 30 and
ending May 28. All
participants must be
pre-registered. Fee:
$30.00 (includes a T-shirt
and ball) We need
coaches! Please sign up to
teach your child’s T-ball
team.

Grant Street After School
Program
– The YMCA provides a
fun-filled after school
program each day from the
end of the school day until
6:00 pm. Enrollment is
flexible ranging from daily
participation to an
occasional drop in.
Chimacum After School
Program
– Meets at the Chimacum Primary School gym and provides a fun-filled
after school program each
day from the end of the
school day until 6:00 pm.

participation to an
occasional drop in.
Spring into Science
– Thaddeus Jurczynski
presents a week of
after-school science fun.
Learn to perform bubble
magic, make slime, explore
surface tension and discover
other science toys and
tricks. Class meets from
3:15-4:45 pm on the stage at
Grant Street Monday through
Friday, April 14-18.
Fee: $30.00
Tennis for Grades K-2
– Instructors Julie
Jablonski and Aki Avelino
will introduce tennis using
the Quickstart format. Meet
at the new Grant Street
courts (gym on rainy days)
on Mondays from 3:15-4:00 pm
starting April 2 and ending
June 2 (no class on May
26). All equipment is
provided. Fee: $20.00

Spring
Pokemon Class
–
Play Pokemon with the new
Diamond Pearl Great
Encounters expansion. Each
player will get an Advanced
level Great Encounters theme
deck, the chance to learn
how to build their own
decks, and non-on-one
training. Steve Goldenbogen
will instruct this four-week
class in the Mt. View
cafeteria on Tuesdays from
3:30-4:30 pm, starting April
22. This class is limited
to 12 so sign up early.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS
REQUIRED BEFORE APRIL 21.

Track & Field for Grades 3-6

Learn long-jump, relays,
hurdles, sprinting, throwing
events and general
conditioning. Coach Jeni
Little will teach this class
on the Blue Heron track on
Mondays, Tuesdays and
Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 pm
starting April 14, with a
track exhibition on May 14.

physical defense, trusting
your instincts, and safety
techniques. Wear
comfortable clothing. Bruce

Rock Climbing
– Climb the wall at Vertical
World in Bremerton using
state-of-the-art equipment
and the safest techniques.
Join us on Tuesday, May 6,
leaving the Mt. View parking
lot at 3:30 pm and returning
to Blue Heron by 7:00 pm.
(Participants will call home
when the van reaches the
Hood Canal Bridge so parents
can anticipate exact time of
arrival.)
Fee: $30.00 (incl.
admission, and equipment
rental).
Early Release Recreational
Swim
– Come swim at the Mt. View
pool from 1:30-3:30 pm on
Early Release Wednesdays
April 9 and May 21. Parents
will be responsible for
providing transportation
after the class. Fee:
$5.00 per swim

Junior Golf for Boys and
Girls - Learn the fundamentals of golf’s short game and full swing in a
relaxed setting. Instructor
Gabe Tonan will conduct this
six-week program at the Port
Townsend Golf Club, 1948
Blaine St., on Mondays from
2:30-3:30 beginning May 5.
Transportation is not
provided. Fee: $30.00
Tennis for Grades 6-12

will teach eight sessions to
students of all skill levels
at the PTHS courts on
Wednesdays after school.
First session is on April 9.
On April 9 and May 21 meet

Rhody Run Training
-
The YMCA, the Port Townsend
Running Club and the Port
Townsend Marathon
Association are teaming up
to offer this nine-week
course in preparation for
the 29th annual 12k Rhody
Run. Jeni Little will lead
planned runs on the track
and in the neighborhood in a
program designed for runners
of all ages and abilities.
Class meets at the Blue
Heron commons on Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays at
6:00 am beginning March 17.
Fee: $20.00
Ceramics Open Studio
– Explore your creativity
sculpting, hand building,
throwing on a wheel. Studio
features include clay, a
wide selection of low-fire
glazes, tools, wheels,
molds, reference materials,
large work surfaces, and
great lighting. Holly Green
will facilitate this 8-week
class on Tuesdays evenings
starting April 15, from
6:30-9:30 pm in the art room
at Blue Heron. Fee:
$150.00.

Port Townsend Swim Team
“Barracudas” –
Improve your strokes with
expert instruction and
coaching in a fun
atmosphere! Compete in area
swim meets when ready. The
season runs from September
through July. PTST is a
youth club open to swimmers
of all ages who have
completed Level 4 lessons or
can do freestyle and
backstroke. Contact Susie

to watch groups practice on
Mon-Fri from 2:30-5:15 pm.
West Camp for Girls
– This traditional summer
camp for girls near the ages
of 10-12 takes place at Fort
Flagler State Park on
Marrowstone Island from June
24-27. Fee for the four-day
camp is $199, with
scholarship help available.

PTHS Sailing Team Update
– Coach Erik Coburn and
assistant coach Rich Pindell
are back this year and
excited about the High
School Sailing Club’s second
season. The Club plans to
attend all the regional
regattas – representing the
NWMC/WBF, YMCA, and Port
Townsend High School. New
this year is a Junior
Sailing club for 7th
and 8th graders.
They will participate in all
practices with the HS Club
as well as local
competitions. Meetings are
Wednesdays at 7 pm at the
Cupola House. For

Indoor Soccer for Pre-K -
2nd Grade
- Have a great time
improving your soccer skills
and playing with your
friends. Teams are co-ed
with separate divisions for
pre-K/kindergarten and
1st/2nd graders. This
program runs on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from April 8-May
22 in the Port Townsend
Community Center gym.
Registration deadline is
March 14. The
non-refundable fee of $30

Twisters Gymnastics
–
Recreational gymnastics
classes, as well as
cheerleading, tumbling and
tumbling/dance classes are
being offered for boys and
girls of all ages and

Classes are structured by
age and ability. The Gym is
also available for Birthday

AFS Exchange Student Program
– This past school year two
positions for AFS (American
Field Service) foreign
exchange students at Port
Townsend High School went
unfilled because there were
no local families to host
them. If you or anyone you
know would be interested in
hosting a foreign high
school student for next
school year 2008/09 please
contact local AFS volunteer
